Colorful spring

This is the very first thing I posted to Polyvore, and while I kind of love the outfit, I just noticed that the pants look distorted on here. They're white where you can see through them; they aren't transparent. They're actually really cute. Go look at them at the source; they ARE $680, though. I know you could find a cheaper version at Forever 21, H&M, JC Penney, or even on Amazon...among many other places.

Then I started looking at the rest of this. EVERYTHING involved here is pretty pricey. See? Here's proof I don't care, right? Even I know that $70 for a scarf isn't for everyone, so let this be a guide more than anything. All of these items are pretty basic and can be found at most of your favorite stores. Get creative with the colors and patterns (like the stripes with the flowers) and see what you can do to make this outfit work for you!

Glamour never gets old

Oh, old Hollywood, how I love thee.

The fact that the jewelry is the least expensive part of this ensemble is kind of terrifying. Granted, I'm sure you could find a pair of shoes that were just as fabulous...without dropping $1500 on Louboutins. Maybe. These shoes are pretty fabulous.

Go Phillies!

Favorite time of the year. The only reason that I've survived pretty much every summer of my life. I honestly don't care nor do I think it matters what you wear to a baseball game, but it's still a lot of fun to collect Phillies licensed stuff. Nothing beats a cold Yuengling (keep it that way in a Phillies koozie) before or during (hell, or after) the game, and living in Braves territory (and Rays, but their fans are much nicer), it's up to me to keep those Atlanta fans honest with a reminder that, even if my Phillies are without Halladay or any chance of a postseason, they're still there in the NL East...just biding their time...putting the pieces back together...

They'll be back. Oh, they will be back.

Beachside to Barside

Oh, Florida. I never thought I'd miss the beach until I moved away from it. I'm still in Florida, but Tallahassee is not 20 minutes away like where I used to live. One of my favorite things in the world is spending the entire day drinking on the beach and then walking right into the bar for the night. It's so simple and so free. Just roll up the towel, toss a dress on top of your suit, tuck the sunglasses on top of your head to hold back salty hair, and go on in to keep the party moving. No worries about hair or makeup. No need for heels or flashy clothes. In fact, just this little gold cuff is a big step for that environment.

One of my favorite places to do that was always The Dock on Pensacola Beach or Juana's Pagoda on Navarre. We'd set up in the sand in front of or down a little ways from either place, swim, play volleyball, get some sun, drink with strangers all day. When the sun went down, it was only about a 50 foot walk and no door (that's right...no door) right into the bar. I think all of life should be that easy.

Beach Tourist

I'm at a point in my life where I wish shorts looked better on me than they do. I don't know what it is, but I've never been comfortable in them. My legs aren't fat; it's more like I feel that the weight lifter in me just overwhelms the delicacy of a pair of cute shorts. I hate that, too, because I love the way they look on everyone else. Nonetheless, there's this idea.

I'm a firm believer that scarves are a year-round thing, and I didn't want to overwhelm this incredible pair of Burberry shorts so I thought it was a better choice than a flashy top or a lot of jewelry. This little lace/eyelet tank seemed like a good compromise. Even so, I wanted SOME flash; enter the shoes and the watch. Finally, argue with me all you want about brown and black, but I like the contrast at work here.

Inspired by this guy...

So I love men's clothes. They're always so simple and crisp. I feel like they have far fewer decisions to make than we do in the mornings...or evenings...or in the store.

Plus, I'm kind of a guy. I look for ways to wear women's clothes with a menswear influence, and in some cases, I just wear the guy's clothing. I was looking for something completely unrelated to clothing, and I stumbled on this guy. Love what he's wearing so I thought I'd try to make it work with a feminine twist. My plan would be to push up the sleeves of the sweater and roll the shirt cuffs outside of the sweater cuffs in a similar way to the dude. Personally, I'm not much for hats, but it might look good on you. Jeans are always easy; I have to have this watch; the bag is simple and kind of androgynous. Then the shoes. Can we talk about how great loafers are? I hate flats, but have fallen in love with the look of a pair of loafers and skinny jeans or pants.

Now if only it wasn't 80 degrees here...
